Our Commitment
Our Favorite Memories was created to help families preserve the words, voices, photographs, and moments that become priceless over time. We believe those memories belong to you and should remain under your control.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your information is stored and used.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect and store:
Memory text and written stories
Voice recordings and their transcripts
Photos you choose to add to memories
Family member information, including names, relationships, birthdays, and optional profile photos
Responses to prompts and custom questions
Favorite memories
Widget preferences
App settings and preferences
We collect only the information necessary to provide the features you choose to use.
Speech Recognition
When you record a memory, Our Favorite Memories may use Apple's Speech Recognition technology to generate a written transcript of your recording.
Speech recognition is provided through Apple technologies and is subject to Apple's privacy practices.
You may review, edit, or delete transcripts at any time.
iCloud Synchronization
If your device is signed into iCloud, your memories automatically synchronize through Apple's private CloudKit service, allowing them to remain available across your own Apple devices that are signed into the same Apple ID.
Voice recordings are currently the one exception. Audio recordings remain on the device where they were originally recorded and are not synchronized through iCloud.
Our Favorite Memories does not provide shared family accounts or automatically share memories with other users.
Photos and Camera
Our Favorite Memories requests permission to access your Photos and Camera only if you choose to use those features.
These permissions allow you to:
Attach photos to memories
Select profile photos
Capture new photos directly within the app
You remain in control of these permissions and may change them at any time through your device's Settings.
Microphone
Microphone access is requested only when you choose to record a voice memory.
If microphone permission is denied, you may continue using the app's written memory features.
You can enable or disable microphone access at any time through your device's Settings.
Data Storage
Your memories are securely stored on your device.
If your device is signed into iCloud, written memories, photos, family member information, prompts, favorites, and other supported app data are securely synchronized using Apple's private CloudKit service.
Voice recordings remain stored on the device where they were recorded and are not currently synchronized through iCloud.
We do not sell your memories.
We do not use your memories for advertising.
We do not use your memories to train artificial intelligence models.
Recently Deleted
When you delete a memory, it is moved to Recently Deleted, where it remains for up to 30 days.
During this period, you may restore the memory if it was deleted accidentally.
You may also choose to permanently delete a memory at any time.
Once permanently deleted, the memory and its associated files cannot be recovered.
Children's Privacy
Our Favorite Memories is designed to help families preserve meaningful moments.
Parents and guardians choose what information they wish to record or store about their families.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Third-Party Services
Our Favorite Memories uses trusted Apple technologies to provide certain features, including:
Apple CloudKit
Apple Speech Recognition
Apple Photos
Apple Camera
Apple Notifications
Apple's Share Sheet
Use of these Apple services is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Data Security
We use Apple's secure technologies and industry best practices to help protect your information.
Although no electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we continually work to safeguard your memories using reasonable technical and administrative protections.
Your Choices
You remain in control of your memories.
You can:
Create, edit, and organize memories
Delete memories at any time
Restore deleted memories within 30 days
Permanently delete memories whenever you choose
Manage family members
Manage prompts and custom question collections
Enable or disable access to your microphone, camera, and photos through your device's Settings
Sign out of your Apple ID or disable iCloud through your device's Settings if you no longer wish to use iCloud synchronization
Remove the app from your device at any time
Your memories always remain under your control.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
As Our Favorite Memories continues to evolve, we may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Any changes will be posted on this page, and the Effective Date at the top of this policy will be updated accordingly.

A Personal Note
Our Favorite Memories began with a simple realization: the little things our loved ones say today often become the moments we treasure most tomorrow.
Like many people, I've found myself listening to old voicemails from family members who are no longer with us—not because of the message itself, but because hearing their voice brings them back for just a moment. That experience helped inspire this app.
My hope is that Our Favorite Memories gives families a place to preserve not only photographs, but also the voices, stories, laughter, and everyday conversations that make the people we love unforgettable.
